Dear Friends,
As the year draws to a close and we prepare for our first Christmas on the ranch, we wanted to take a moment to share some reflections and gratitude for this incredible journey we’ve undertaken together.
The past year has been nothing short of transformative. When we first set foot on this land, it felt vast, untamed, and full of promise. What we didn’t realize was how much it would teach us—not just about country living, but about ourselves. From the early spring mornings spent learning how to care for the animals to the late summer nights watching the stars after a long day of work, each moment has been a lesson in patience, resilience, and humility. Raising animals has been one of the most rewarding experiences, though not without its challenges. We’ve learned how to bottle-feed pygmy goats, mend fences and feeders, and even deal with the occasional escape artist in the herd. Every task, no matter how small, has taught us the value of diligence and the deep bond we share with the creatures who call this ranch home.
As winter sets in, the ranch is transforming into a serene and almost magical place. The quiet crunch of icy ground underfoot in the mornings, the frosty breath of the Longhorns as they greet us, and the way the lights glitter on the gate—all of it feels like nature’s own Christmas celebration. The big Santa Rooster greets all those that enter the ranch and hope he finds you smiling as a result. The solitude of this season has given us time to reflect, to be still, and to truly appreciate the peace that the land provides.
This Christmas feels special, not just because it’s our first here, but because of the gratitude we feel in our hearts. We are so thankful for this land and its ability to ground us, for the hard work that brings us closer as a family, and for the lessons learned through trial, error, and love. Most of all, we’re grateful for the peace we’ve found here, a stillness that fills the soul and reminds us of what truly matters. As we celebrate our first Christmas on the ranch, we’re reminded that the gifts we value most aren’t wrapped under the tree but found in the quiet moments: a sunrise over the hills, the gentle nuzzle of a donkey, and the warmth of a fire after a day in the cold.
To each of you, we send our warmest wishes for a holiday filled with peace, love, and connection. Thank you for following along on this journey with us. We’re excited to share more adventures in the coming year.
Merry Christmas, from our ranch to yours!
